Corberán: “We are going to take advantage of the opportunity against Sevilla FC and continue to grow”
The Valencia CF coach previews Matchday 19
Meetings with Getafe have been frequent for Valencia CF in recent years, and have featured two breakthrough performances for Kang In. The South Korean has been the protagonist in the last pair of visits to Mestalla from Los Azulones, and will attempt to make it three-in-a-row this Sunday night.
The first such performance was on January 29th, 2019. Valencia CF were drawing 1-1 against Getafe and needed to score two more goals in order to make it through the Copa del Rey tie. Kang In, who was still alternating appearances with the VCF Mestalla and the first team, came onto the pitch in the 71st minute. The pace of the game was frantic, but the South Korean found the necessary calm to send two balls into the area that were converted by teammates, taking Valencia CF into the semifinals. The following day his definitive move to the first team was made official.
The second showing took place on September 25th, 2019, when Kang In made his first LaLiga start. He celebrated that milestone in style, capping his showing by scoring a goal in the 39th minute. Thanks to that strike, the midfielder became the third youngest player in the club's history to score in LaLiga.
"Every time I go out on the pitch, I try to help the team to win and take the three points," he told VCFMedia after the game.
This weekend's game against Getafe takes place on Sunday night at 9pm CET.
